Have you ever heard of the phrase, “Time is Money?” There are hundreds of books about it, many articles, and many quotes stating the fact that time really is money. But how? and why? Now If I were to put this in the simplest context I’d just state the quote that I read from Stephen R. Covey which said, “The key is in not spending time, but in investing it.”
Just like we invest in money, we have to invest in our time as well. If we invest money in a good project we will have a good return and if we invest time wisely in a good cause we will ultimately have a good return as well. Time and money both are similar in this way. We might think that money is more valuable because well it is in fact money, but having time and spending it wisely can change our lives in ways we can’t even imagine.
If you’re a student in this day and age, I think the biggest problem you have to face is the lack of time. Busy schedules, trying to meet deadlines, assignments, and peer pressure are all very hectic and very time-consuming. The very first thing which is probably the most important is to divide your time into different blocks so you can fit different things into these blocks.
Here’s how I think you can achieve this:
- A Good Night’s Sleep
- Having a good night’s sleep can help you maintain your time wisely and more effectively. There is a great book “The 5 AM Club” by Robin Sharma which you can read to understand the importance of sleeping and waking up at a time which can be most beneficial for you.
- Stop Procrastinating!
- I know it sounds super fun to say, “I am a Procrastinator” but in reality, the tasks that we have to do eats way much of our time if we delay them to the last second. Getting things done at the right time can help you stay super focused and motivated and also it can help you save a lot of time. There is a great book, “Eat That Frog!” by Brian Tracy which you can read that provides 21 great ways to stop procrastinating and get things done at a right time.
- Stay focused
- I know it can be daunting to hear things like, “stay focused on your goals” every time but it is also one of the most important things to consider if you want to change your lifestyle and spend your time wisely. If you’re not focused on your life, you cannot achieve anything. There is a whole article which you can read to get a more detailed view of how to focus on your life:
